Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages and works on research projects (product formulation, particle engineering, wet chemistry, process scale-up) of moderate size and scope with minimal supervision.
- Help performs analytical testing on products (wet chemistry, product stability, etc).
- Identifies and interprets data independently. Performs data management and tasks to record results effectively in lab notebook or computer system with minimal supervision.
- Assists in laboratory equipment procurement, maintenance, improvements, and design. Can operate laboratory equipment independently.
- May perform quality control testing under supervision from Head of Quality Control or a supervisor. Investigates and resolves problems in a timely manner.
- Generates SOPs, forms, logbooks, study protocols, specifications, stability protocols and reports as necessary.
- Continues to be up to date with scientific paper, governmental regulations and guidelines.
- Works well with peers from different disciplines and a good team player to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Coordinate effectively with different disciplines and share knowledge, skills and experience.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering or related major.
- Hands on experience in analytical testing (HPLC, UV-vis, etc) and experimental design a plus.
- Pharmaceutical product formulation or particle engineering experience a plus.
- Familiar with MS Word, Excel and other common computer skills.
- Able to work in Hong Kong.
- Proficient in both verbal and written English. Optional Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).

Duties and Responsibilities
- Carries out a broad range of research activities to determine best practices, research protocols and experimental plans.
- Perform cell culture, cell harvest and isolation according to study protocol related to the handling of gene modification and cell line development under both Mammalian cell and microbial system.
- Conduct strain screening, cloning, DNA analysis and expression for stable cell line.
- Collaborate with QC team for related cell line testing such as purity, identity and potency test.
- Setup and maintain in-house Master Cell Bank (MCB) system and facilities.
- Writes and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) and create related forms, logbooks, study protocols, specifications and reports as necessary.
- Identifies and interprets data independently. Performs data management and tasks to record results effectively in lab notebook or computer system with minimal supervision.
- Follow company procurement policy and procure related laboratory equipment and consumables. Keep sufficient stock for research activities and maintain proper inventory control.
- Investigates and resolves problems in a timely manner.
- Continues to be up to date with scientific paper, governmental regulations and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
- Master of Philosophy or above in Biotechnology, Molecular and cellular engineering, cell and molecular science, life science or related major.
- At least three years of cell culture experience, preferably in both mammalian cell and microbial expression system.
- Familiar with flow cytometer, LC (AKTA), microplate reader, mass spectrophotometer, PCR and other DNA/Protein detection kits and equipment.
- Hands on experience in molecular biology skills such as tissue culture, PCR, generation and purification of DNA is necessary. Additional knowledge and experiences in gene modification and transfection will be a plus.
- Good organizational skills with great attention to detail. Multitasking abilities, flexibility and adaptability to a changing and challenging environment are essential.
- Have excellent data analysis, interpretation, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge in statistics such as hypothesis testing and DoE will be a plus.
- Familiar with MS Word, Excel and other common computer skills.
- Proficient in both verbal and written English and Chinese.

As the Subject Matter Expert, the incumbent will be responsible to interact with Taron industrial partners, customers and academia collaborators.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the R&D team for day-to-day operations.
- Oversee all R&D activities and projects and ensure they can be completed satisfactorily according to project requirement and timeline.
- Works with Senior Management to develop and formulate long and short-term planning, policies, objectives, and budget for the R&D team.
- Prioritize and allocate R&D resources according to company strategy and directions.
- Spearhead entire R&D team to help recruit, manage and train the R&D team to ensure the department runs smoothly with the proper talent and know-how.
- Establish processes, roles and accountabilities for direct reports.
- Provide scientific/technical direction and designates accountability for all R&D activities.
- Lead the R&D to provide tech transfer of product technology and documentation from Research to Development and/or to Manufacturing. Provides advices to support product scale-up and manufacture for continuous product/process improvement.
- As Subject Matter Expert to liaise with clients, collaborating partners and other external resources to support R&D team or project development. Attends business meetings and scientific conferences when appropriate.
- Participate in grant writing, proposal preparation, and company IP application.
- Efficiently interact with staff in R&D, Marketing, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs and Manufacturing.
- Continues to be up to date with scientific paper, governmental regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
- PHD in Biotechnology, Molecular and cellular engineering, cell and molecular science, life science or related major.
- A minimum of 8 years of industrial experiences.
- At least 5 years of proven experiences in a leadership R&D position with a life science company.
- Proven track record of product development and commercialization of biological product.
- Ability to move seamlessly from strategic planning to tactical execution.
- Demonstrated expertise in large protein research technique using both mammalian and E-Coli expression system, stable cell line, gene optimization, transfection, cell tissue culture / isolation and protein purification.
- Strong organizational and communications skills.
- Proficient in both verbal and written English and Mandarin.
